Police Nab Suspected Armed Robbers Terrorising Abuja

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested 11 suspected armed robbers, who specialises in terrorising residents in Abuja metropolis and neighbouring states.

The Police PRO, FCT Command, ASP Usen Omorodion, who confirmed the arrest, stated that a joint operation was carried out by Surveillance and SARS team on May, 14, 2017, based on intelligence gathering, led to the arrest of a notorious armed robber one Ifeanyi Nwankwo A.K.A 2mins and eight others including a female member.

The gang members who have been terrorising the residents of Abuja and it environs, were arrested with a locally made pistol, two axes and a sword.

The PPRO noted that the suspects are currently in custody and assisting in investigation and will be charged to court soon.

In another related development, the  FCT Police command has also arrested two middle aged men for robbing a woman of her belongings on her way to work.

The PPRO noted that “She was on her way to work when the suspects accosted her at about 0630hrs of May, 11, 2017; her handbag containing her valuables was recovered.

“Surveillance team attached to Utako Divisional Police Post, that was strategically positioned swung into action and arrested the suspects before they could escape.”

Both male suspects: Umar Mohammed  and Idris Umar are currently in the police custody and investigations are still on going.
