Over 150 police officers from the rank of DSPs to CSPs across zone 4 comprising of Benue, Nasarawa and Plateau states have converged in Makurdi for a training on National Counter Terrorism Incident Management Course.
Declaring the training open, at the officers Mess in Makurdi, the headquarters of the zone, Inspector general of police Idris Ibrahim, said the essence of the training was to improve the capacity and workings of the police and other allied agencies, so that they will be able to face whatever challenges being it herdsmen/farmers clashes,Militancy and terror groups in all part of the country.
Represented by the Assistant inspector general of police, Counter Terrorism Unit, Dan Bature, the IG explained that, the Nigeria Police is collaborating with the UK government to build the Capacity of the officers on the field so as to respond to any given situation at any time.
You will agree with me that Nigeria is battling with a lot of security challenges that is why the inspector general of police in collaboration with the UK government has put this training together to build on the knowledge and workings of the Nigeria police to respond to any security situation they will face in the course of their duty.
this training is across the zones of the 36 states of the federation and is and urged participants to be more attentive”
In a welcome address, the commissioner of police Benue state command Bashir Makama, applauded the IG for putting the training together for officers to equipped their knowledge with modern days policing describing it as the first of its kind in the zone.
The commissioner who spoke through his second in command Bolaji Fafowa urged participants to take advantage of the programme for to enhanced on their workings and better policing at the end of the programme.
