Ahead of the historic novelty match between African Legends and Kano Pillars to raise funds for IDPS, Kano State Football Association (FA) said all is now set to ensure the success of the match as the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has given the organisers the nod to host the event.
The State FA chairman and executive committee member of the Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Sharif Rabiu Inuwa Allan said in Kano, yesterday, that the body was ready for the match as all arrangements to ensure a hitch free encounter is being put in place
He said the FA will do whatever it takes to make the event a success considering is the first of its kind in Nigeria, adding that football goes more than just a game and has multiple ways of touching the lives of humanity.
The veteran football administrator also disclosed that the NFF is ready to collaborate with OZ Consulting Firm, organisers of the novelty match in its capacity to have a hitch free event as the NFF president; Amaju Melvin Pinnick has endorsed the match .
He commended the general coordinator of the match, a Nigerian based in Canada, Ms. Abi Goodman for choosing the State to host such a historic event.
‘I must commend Ms. Abi Goodman for her courage in choosing Kano as the host of such a big, historic, and unprecedented football match.
“This will give football enthusiasts in Kano the opportunity to watch live African football legends like Nwankwo Kanu,El-Hadji Diouf ,Mohammed Kalon ,Stephen Appiah on the field of play at the Sani Abacha stadium, which is rare opportunity to see their legends because many have been on the screen for years and this is a once in a lifetime opportunity and will certainly put Kano on the world map,” Ahlan said.
In the same vein, the President of Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON), Alhaji Nasiru Yusif Gawuna, who is also the State Commissioner in charge of Agriculture, said the game is a good one for the promotion of the creation of awareness on the plight of the internally displace4d persons as well create the opportunity for the massive youths in the state to see their football heroes.
