At least three people were yesterday feared dead when a dark coloured Toyota Prado jeep lost one of its tyres while on high speed making the driver to lost control of the SUV.
Our correspondent gathered that three people lost their lives in the crash that caused traffic congestion on the long bridge .
An official of Lagos Traffic Management Authority( LASTMA) that came to control traffic said the three occupants of the Jeep lost their lives.
He said, “ You can see the blood, so much blood on the floor and the shattered glass of the vehicle everywhere. When you tell these people that speed kills they will not listen to safety cautions”.
The accident on the Third Mainland Bridge left many motorists groaning for hours on the ever busy link between Lagos Mainland and the Island.
An eyewitness who said he was in another vehicle behind the ill fated SUV that was damaged said three occupants reportedly died on the spot.
He said the driver of the vehicle was unlucky as he was trapped by the steering of the vehicle thereby frustrating efforts made by sympathisers to extricate him from the wreck.
As at the time of filling this report the wrecked jeep was said to have been towed to Idiarab Police station while free flow of traffic has been restored.
An official of the Lagos Ambulance Service told our correspondent that the mangled bodies have been taken to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital( LASUTH).
