A young woman, Fati Bala, 30, who accused a house wife of witchcraft, on Monday appeared before the Magajin Gari Shari'a Court II, Kaduna for alleged defamation of character.
Bala was dragged to the court by the 55-year-old house wife, Maryam Jibril of Kabala West, Kaduna, on the grounds that she abused the complainant, called her a witch and a prostitute.
Jibril told the court that it was not the first time the accused was defaming her in public.
According to her, she had taken the accused to the Tudun Wada Police Station in 2012 on similar charges, where Bala allegedly made an undertaking to stop such accusation.
``But she keeps on repeating it. Please did i hurt any of her children or any of her relation, or what is her problem; please she should tell the court.''
The presiding officer, Khadi Ibrahim Mohammad, asked the complainant to bring her witnesses.
The first witness, Abdullahi Yusuf, who reside at Tudun Wada area of the city, said he was present when the incident happened and had prevailed on the complainant to ignore the accused person.
The accused, however, denied ever seen the witness and dismissed his testimony as mere fabrication.
The presiding officer adjourned the case to July 3, for continuation of hearing.
