In a bid to promote Visual Art, the National Gallery of Art (NGA) will on Wednesday unveil the Abuja Biennial Logo at the Shehu Yar’Adua Centre in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The event would be chaired by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Tourism, Culture and National Orientation, Senator Ahmed Baratta, while the Minister of the FCT, Senator Bala Mohammed would serve as the Special Guest of Honour.
The unveiling is part of the activities heralding the Abuja Biennial which is designed to bring together artists, Art collectors and tourists from Nigeria, Africa and the Diaspora to Nigeria’s capital, in response to the yearnings of the Nigerian Visual Art subsector.
The Biennial would not only provide opportunities for artists to sell their works but also provide job opportunities for the youth and boost the tourism industry
The Abuja Biennial draws a parallel with other established Biennials in other countries of the world such as Dak’Art (Senegal), Johannesburg Biennial (South Africa) and the Venice Biennale (Italy).
