Three people on Sunday night, escaped death by the whiskers when an articulated IVECO truck marked LSD 609 XC laden with a 40 feet container rammed into a Pick- Up van marked AAA 922 SJ owned by LEADERSHIP Newspapers .
Our correspondent learnt that Mr.Segun Ojo, the company’s driver who drove the circulation van, his colleague Mr Kehinde Ogunsina and a staff of Vanguard Newspapers were on their way to Vanguard printing press at about 11 PM when the accident occurred around Toyota Bus stop along Oshodi, Apapa expressway.
According to one of the occupants, Ogunsina, the truck owned by Olas International Transport Workers Service Nigeria Limited, recklessly rammed into the van from behind.
He said, “We were on our way to Vanguard printing press on our daily routine for newspaper circulation when the accident occurred. We sighted a commercial bus marked EKY 179 KJ that had an accident and we pulled over. Alas the next thing we heard was a bang on the back of our van shattering our van beyond repair.”
Another witness, who simply gave his name as Jide, said, “Ordinarily, the accident necessitated other vehicles to slow down before the truck that was recklessly driven by its driver rammed into the Leadership van, causing a multiple accident. Even a military officer had his vehicle damaged but said he will repair his vehicle.
“The driver was on high speed and was not watching or may be he had a brake failure because the damage on the van was too much. The occupants of the vehicle were too lucky to be alive.”
