You’re Close To My Husband’s Heart, Mrs Obaseki Tells The Physically Challenged

Mrs Betsy Obaseki, wife of the governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State has assured Physically Challenged Persons in the state that her husband, Godwin Obaseki has them at heart and will show special interest for Edo citizens with special cases.

She made the statement when she played host to the physically challenged/visually impaired, blind and deaf students of Ihogbe secondary school at the APC ICT data collation center yesterday in Benin.

“You are all a special people. Don’t let that word ‘special’ be interpreted in a negative sense. I have listened to all that you have said and you have all proven that there is ability in you. But I want to reassure you that my husband has you all at heart. He said I should tell you that when he is elected in this September 10, governorship election, he will continue from where Comrade Adams Aliu would have stopped for your care and good,” she said.

She stated further that she will join hands with her husband to see that all that the students have tabled as their request before her to her husband is given due attention saying, ‘’ I am moved by your boldness and courage for not giving up hope despite what you have been through’’, adding that, we all have  and do face different challenges just that some are lesser than others, ‘’You know we are all special in the eye of God and his love for us all supersede every other love,’’ she said.

She maintained that she will in close collaboration with her husband ensure that more of them are appointed into government position so that their voices would be heard.“I will encourage him to appoint more of you so that there will be good representation in order for your views and interest to be heard at all cost.’’

She further announced the adoption of Miss Stacy Abhulimen, 28, a Silver Gold Medalist in the last Paralympics who was the only Nigerian among Team Nigeria that joined the ‘Special Olympics World Game in 2011 with 176 participating countries.

The principal of Ihogbe  Secondary School, Deacon Irogbe Ikponwonsa said he feel very elated and appreciative of what he has seen so far, adding: ‘’There are some persons in the society who do not even know we exist or even have the heart to care for us. All we can say is thank you and may victory be yours in all your efforts.’
