Police Deploy Marine Gun Boats To Riverine Areas

The police yesterday said  they had deployed marine boats with their operatives in conjunction with the Nigerian Navy to man the riverine areas before, during and after the governorship election of Saturday, September 10, 2016.
This was disclosed by the deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Operations,       Mr Joshak Habila, who was deployed by Inspector General of Police to supervise election.
He said the police and other sister agencies would not compromise the sanctity of the election, and therefore, warned troublemakers to stay cleer of any polling booth.
The DIG said the police in collaboration with the Nigerian Navy had effectively be trained to monitor the waterways across the state.
He added that their concerns were  to ensure that the election was free, fair, credible and conclusive and also ensure that the voters were safe before, during and after the election.
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has temporally relocated its headquarters to the state ahead of the election.
This was revealed by the INEC national chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu at the stakeholders meeting in Benin City.
