Youth under auspices of Kogi Youth Development Initiative (KYDI) has condemned the recent attack on the state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, saying the current economic down turn in the state should not be blamed on him.
The youth in a statement signed by the national coordinator, Comrade Almostapha Asuku Abdullahi, said rather than attack the Governor, he should be appreciated for all his developmental drive in the state that has started yielding dividend.
“Our governor should not be blamed for the current economy situation in Kogi, the current administration in the state inherited a total collapse security system where kidnapping and armed robbery was the other of the day, but today, much attention has been directed to security as the Governor provided vehicles and other logistics support to all security outfits in the state.
“On assumption of office, his Excellency embarked on overhauling our state civil service by screening the state work force which has yielded dividends by exposing over 20,000 ghost worker who have been collecting billions of naira from the state coffer.
“Also the improvement in the infrastructural development through construction and reconstruction of major roads in all the three senatorial districts in the state to be completed within one year,” he said.
He stated further that the Governor in diversifying the economy of of the state had commenced investment in agriculture by giving loan to farmers in the state.
He revealed that the Governor who himself is a youth has demonstrated his love for the youth through various youth empowerment programmes and has even involved them politically in in the affairs of the state within the short time in office with the appointment of youth into various political office.
“This is something that hardly happened under the previous administration, which shows the genuine demonstration of concern toward youth development,” he stated.
