Prolific voice-over artiste, Babajide Morounfolu has emerged the new national president of Association of Voice-over Artistes.
He won as the fifth executive president of the association during the association’s general elections held on Friday, 9 September, 2016 at the association’s secretariat in Surulere, Lagos.
The official hand-over/swearing-in ceremony holds on Friday, 23 September, 2016 at Voice House, 1, Okanlawon Ajayi Street, Masha, Surulere, Lagos.
Various offices were contested, and after a rigorous campaign, the elections were successfully held.The contestants, after going through the pre-election procedures were given 5 minutes to present their manifesto before the house where they spoke passionately about their plans to take AVOA to the next level.
Voting commenced at 5.00pm, at the end of which, the following candidates emerged winners in the various offices:President: Babajide Morofolu, Vice President: Ngozi Ogbonna, Public Relations Officer: Joy Ogbekene, Assistant Secretary: Deola Adebiyi and Finance Director: Motunrola FodekeJide Moronfolu, the new executive president is the fifth president of AVOA since its inception in 1991, preceded by Isaac Ijoma (1991-2001), Kevin Ushi (2001-2007), Daphne Atere-Roberts (2007-2011), and Ehi Omokhuale (2011-2016).Babajide Moronfolu, a seasoned professional broadcaster and scriptwriter holds a masters degree in Managerial Psychology from University of Ibadan.
He hails from the ancient city of Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, southwest Nigeria. Loud In Africa as he’s fondly called by his admirers began his career as an intern at FRCN in 1988, before moving to other outfits that have seen him work with the revered movie director and producer Tunde Kelani, as well as other notable personalities in the entertainment industry where he has produced many award winning TV and radio programmes.
The Vice President, Ngozi Ogbonna, a vibrant member of AVOA has been the Projects and Internet Committee Coordinator for four years, and is endowed with the drive, capacity and commitment to move AVOA to the next level.
The Association of Voice Over Artistes (AVOA) Nigeria, is a body of professional artistes registered under Incorporated Trustees of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Members provide voice work on Broadcast Advert Materials, Interactive Voice Response (IVR), Computer Software, Cartoons, Radio Drama and other voice related works in allied industries such as Film and Music. Some members are advertising professionals who engage in Advert Copywriting and Translations.
AVOA members also include broadcasters who voice documentaries, engage in radio/TV programmes presentation and voice modeling.
AVOA’s registered Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON) members, produce Radio and Television Commercials, Documentaries and Interactive Voice Response (IVR), for advertising agencies and advertisers. They also produce radio drama for radio stations, international agencies and NGOs.
