Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon Adamu Abdullahi Candido yesterday in his office inaugurated the newly appointed Local Education Authority (LEA) secretary, Alhaji Haruna Saidu Karshi.
Performing the ceremony, Candido charged the education secretary to work as team with his principal officers so as to restore the lost glory of education in the area council and not to allow his personal interest to over shadow the interest.
The chairman also directed that no head teacher should be allowed to stay in one location longer than expected. “Any head teacher that has overstayed in a particular school should be reposted, irrespective of his or her status and background,” he said.
He further directed the education secretary to end the culture of collecting toiletries and soaps as a form of local craft, but rather pupils should be engaged in meaningful crafts that add value to their lives.
He also warned that PTA levies in AMAC schools should henceforth not be more than N500, adding that any head teacher found charging more than the amount would be sanctioned.
Responding, the incoming Education Secretary, Alhaji Haruna Karshi said he would do his best in discharging his duties and also promised to work as a team with his principal officers in other to achieve his goal.
