Mr Godwin Obaseki, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the September 28, Edo Governorship election, says his government will stimulate economy activities in Edo, when elected.
Obaseko stated this when he met with the leadership and members of Electronics and Computers Dealers. Association (ECDA), who endorsed his candidacy, in Benin, on Monday.
He said by increasing economy activities, hundreds of direct and indirect jobs will be created, while it will further help reduce the challenges of crime in the state.
The APC governorship candidate stressed that to stimulate the economy, his government will not only sustain the current level of infrastructural development, but increase it, in addition to providing soft loans for businesses to thrive.
He assured the ECDA that his government will put a final stop to the issue of extortion, and promised to consult with them on issues that concern their businesses.
“We are all going to be stake holders in this government and you will be involved in the project.
“I want to tell you that what have been achieved in this present Oshiomhole led government is not by accident, but a result of deliberate plan.
“We will not only sustain this, but work hard to increase it. When elected, it will not be my government but our government,” he stated.
Sir Ejeke Enemou, President of the ECDA, while announcing the endorsement of the APC candidate, promised that the ECDA members will fully mobilise to ensure Obaseki emerge victorious in the September 28 poll.
“We are not against progress, we will stand for progress at all time. We are. Supporting you because the Oshiomhole’s government you have been part of, have tried, and we want continuity of the development that had taken place in the past seven years,” he said.
Enemuo however said as a law abiding people, they will always support the government with the payment of legitimate tax.
“There will not be development when the people do not participate in government and one of the way the people can participate in government through payment of tax.
“We are not against payment of tax, but we want it to have human face,” stated Enemuo.
Similarly, Mr Chris Okaeben, a member of the Edo House of Assembly, appealed to the people to be wise in taken decision on who their leader should be.
He advised the people against voting for the same set of people who ruin this state, between 1999 to 2007, and vote for the party that has brought development to the state in the last seven years.
According to him, “We are not all strangers to what happened in this state between 1999 to 2007, these same sets of people are again parading themselves to government this state again.
“We must not allow them to come again to destroy what we have achieved in the last seven years.
“We need a man who can protect our tomorrow, and that person is Obaseki. Obaseki has been the brain behind the success story of Adams Oshiomhole’s government.
Oshiomhole has worked for you, we cannot pay his government with ingratitude. Oshiomhole and Obaseki have both worked for the betterment of the Edo people.”
