Missing Uniport Lecturer’s Family Alleges Intimidation By Police

The family of a missing lecturer of the University of Port Harcourt, Dr. Lebari Eeba, has accused the Zone 6 Command of the Nigeria Police of complicity and intimidation leading to the unlawful arrest of siblings of the victim by police operatives.

The family of Eeba was kidnapped and taken to an unknown destination by unknown gunmen on October 7, 2015 and has not been found since then, they are also accusing authorities of the command of extortion, illegal acquisition of their property and bias amongst other anomalies in handling of the matter of the missing lecturer.

The family, in a petition by the its lawyer, Barrister Israel Abosi, dated June 8, 2016 and addressed to the Inspector-General of Police, a copy of which was mad available to LEADERSHIP alleged that one Lebari Robert, a suspect in the kidnap saga had connived with the police to subvert the course of justice.

The petition also alleged that two police officers attached to the Zone 6 Command, Calabar, DSP Francis Usani and Sergeant Innocent Obeten  have frustrated every effort aimed at transferring the investigation into the disappearance of the lecturer to Force Headquarters, Abuja.
