No fewer than 2 persons on Thursday loss their lives in sokoto as a vehicle who was said to be on high speed allegedly failed break and rammed into them on their separate motorcycles.
The vehicle, a black colour Golf Saloon with registration number Kano Dal 28 XU was said to have been on high speed when he eventually approached the Miyetti Allah roundabout opposite Shiek Abubakar Gummi College within the metropolis.
The Golf car then crushed one Bajaj mortocyle with registration number, Sokoto SRI 161 QB and another Kasea whose number was Sokoto SOO 12 A03.
Miyetti Allah roundabout is just about 200 meters away from Sokoto State Government House and Presidential Lodge respectively.
Narrating the incident when LEADEREHIP came, an eye witnessed said, the Golf Saloon car was on speed while approaching the roundabout and couldn’t dodge the motorcycles thus veering into them and straight into the roundabout.
According to him, “It was a horrible sight seeing the way the golf car climbed and crushed the motorcycles.”
“Other victims sustained injuries and some are unconscious”. The eye witness said.
Decrying the recklessness of most Golf car and Sharon users, especially those using them for commercial purposes, the eye witness said, nearly 80 percent of the road crashes involving vehicles in northern part of the country are caused by Golf and Sharon driver’s overspending, dangerous overtaking, carelessness, and other fatal intentional errors.
Confirming the incident, Sokoto Police Command Spokesperson (DSP) Sani Almustapha said it was a terrible scenario.
Almustapha, however confirmed that one person died and three others were hospitalized.
