The director-general National Directorate of Employment (NDE) Kunle Obayan said NDE management would continue to strengthened it efforts to providing enabling platform for continues a manpower development and training in the country.
The DG stated this at Public Procurement Management Workshop held Tuesday in Yola,noting that the efforts of federal government in area of poverty reduction,employment generation and wealth creation through the machinery of Bureau for Public procurement (BPP) by adopting e-procurement is to ensure transparency in procurement activities
Represented by Umar Ibrahim, director Finance, the DG said the directorate would uphold the principle of transparency, accountability and due process in its procurement activities as prescribed in the public procurement act.
The workshop, with theme, “Efficient Procurement: A Tool for Transparency and Accountability,” was jointly organised in collaboration with Rock Edge Consulting Limited is aimed to strengthened efforts to providing enable platform for continues manpower development training .
The director, Procurement, Abubakar Fikpo expressed concerned that the agency is faced with the task of recovery and prudence in expenditure or financial transactions in the present economic recession.
He said the goal of adopting national and international best practices in procurement would not be achieved without expanding the scope and frontier of the knowledge of officers involved in the procurement activities of the directorate can not be achieved .
State coordinator, Ismai’ila Yar’adua said the directorates in the state provided resettlement items to 50 graduates of the basic National Open Apprenticeship Scheme (NOAS)’, saying 360 unemployed youths are undergoing skills training in seven different skills at the three NDE skill acquisition Centers located at Yola, Mayo-Belwa and Michika local government areas of the state.
