The House of Representatives on Wednesday adopted a motion seeking bio-metric identification for animals, so as to curb the menace of cattle rustling in the country.
The lawmakers also urged the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to formulate policies aimed at incorporating Electronic Animal Identification System.
Hon. Ali Isa, who represents Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency of Gombe State in a motion titled ’Urgent Need for Electronic Animal Identification System to Minimize Cattle Rustling In the Country,’ argued that an effective animal identification system would eradicate.
“A robust animal identification and tracking system will not only aid in the fight to eradicate cattle rustling, but would also allow lifetime traceability,” he said.
