Niger State governor, Abubakar Sani Bello has set up a committee to implement the recommendations of an earlier committee on improved internally generated revenue (IGR) of the state and set a target of N2 billion monthly for it.
Receiving the report of the committee headed by Professor Muhammad Nasir Maiturare, the vice chancellor of IBB University, Lapai yesterday , Governor Abubakar Bello said government will ensure full implementation of the recommendations of the committee on repositioning the IGR of the state.
Consequently , the governor constituted a committee, headed by the commissioner of Finance, Ibrahim Balarabe for the implementation of the recommendations of Maiturare Committee.
According to him, “If I start seeing figures like N2 billion in a month, then it is a good start but if less, there will be need for more work and we will continue to review until we get it right”.
He said for the administration to achieve its set goals in the face of limited resources every legal step necessary will be taken to ensure adherence to the recommendations made, stressing that government was committed to improving the state’s internally generated revenue.
He charged the committee to fashion out workable modalities for the actualization of an improved internally generated revenue.
