Akwa Ibom Government has said that it would continue to provide the needed support to Institutions of higher learning in the state to enable them turn out quality graduates that would respond to the demands of the twenty first century society.
The state Governor Mr. Udom Emmanuel gave the assurance at Obong University, Obong Ntak in Etim Ekpo local Government area of the state during the ground breaking and foundation laying ceremony of Late David Anako Faculty building for biblical studies and ministry under the auspices of Church of Christ Ohio United state of America.
Governor Emmanuel who commends Obong University for impacting sound moral to its students said the state government would continue to remain alive to it responsibilities of offering timely assistance in grants and scholarships to private universities operating in the state.
Represented by Dr Glory Ema Ekpo Director in department of Secondary and Higher Education, Governor Emmanuel described Obong University as a major Educational stakeholder in the state that has contributed significantly to the growth of higher learning in the country.
He noted that the growth of private universities and other tertiary institutions has hasten intellectual development of the people and that with education at the background, the understanding of individual’s rights and obligations in a democratic dispensation would be sharpened.
‘’ I am quite Impressed by the resolute commitment of Obong University for catering for the character and moral development needs of your students in addition to qualitative secular knowledge you have provided’’ he stated.
While commending Anako family for their assistance to the University, Governor Emmanuel maintained that aside the skills needed to provide workable solutions to the myriads of problems facing the society, the society also needed educated men and women with firm moral principles, character and integrity.
