The wife of the president has been in the news since last week following her critic of her husband’s administration in an interview she granted the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).

…My husband risks revolt by Nigerians- Aisha Buhari

It would be recalled that Aisha Buhari, allegedly expressed fear that Nigerians may revolt against her husband over the way he is running the country.

“What I am afraid of is that this situation may lead to a revolt by about 15.5 million Nigerians who voted for him,” BBC Hausa quoted Mrs Buhari.

LEADERSHIP has initiated contact with the presidency to hear its own side of the story.

In the BBC interview Mrs Buhari said most of the people around the President now that he is in power are mere fair weather friends who never contributed anything to the development of his political career.

According to her, some of them don’t even have Permanent Voters’ Card (PVC), thus 90% of those holding appointments in the incumbent administration didn’t contribute to the success of the All Progressives Congress (APC), under which banner her husband was elected.

The first Lady said: “Many people have started contriving the disunity of the APC. This is what is giving us problem now. They feel that they are the ones that worked for the victory of the party. While those who didn’t vote for him are having a field day, they (his supporters) have nothing to show for it.

Those that didn’t contribute anything are those that are enjoying political appointments now.

“What I am afraid of is that this situation may lead to a revolt by about 15.5 million Nigerians who voted for him. Whether or not he knows this for a fact, those that voted for him know it. There is nothing I will tell him. He knows it himself. For instance, out of the 50 people he has appointed, himself and I, who have been with him for about 27 years don’t know him,” she noted.

She said although Buhari didn’t tell her about his ambition for 2019, she said she took the plunge to make this revelation on her own.
