The Speaker of Akwa Ibom state House of Assembly, Barr. Onofiok Luke has called on all political groups in the state to continue to support the administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel in his resolve to make the state a better place.
Onofiok Luke made the call when granted audience to the national executive of Ibom Mandate Crusaders, IMC, one of the sociopolitical groups that featured in the grassroot mobilization campaign across the state and beyond during the electioneering period.
The group visited the House of Assembly to register its solidarity and support to the sixth Assembly, and to intimate the Speaker on the activities of the group.
Barr. Luke lauded the efforts of IMC towards the emergence of Mr. Udom Emmanuel as Governor, and promised to ensure that all groups that worked towards the emergence of the government of the day and those that are working to ensure the sustenance of the divine mandate are carried along in the scheme of things.
He pledged the support of the House of the Assembly towards the advocacy for an eight year tenure for governor Udom Emanuel, maintaining however that what was paramount at the moment was for all to join hands with the governor to enable him deliver on his industrialization vision and drive which forms the cardinal objective of his campaign manifesto.
The Speaker enjoined members of the group and under Akwa Ibom people to position themselves strategically to be able to benefit from the value chain would be created though opportunities.
Making reference to the expected take off of Shop-rite Shopping Mall in the state, Mr. Speaker observed that it would be improper for such a company to source for products like fruits, vegetables, poultry products, tilapia fish among others from outside the state for sale in their shop, and encouraged Akwa Ibom people to take advantage of such opportunities and embrace co-operative business in order to boost small and medium enterprise in the state.
Earlier, the International President of the group, Hon. Aniekan Ekwere, who is the Special Assistant to the Governor on Project Monitoring said the group founded in 2014, with a membership strength of over 93,000 comprising Akwa Ibom sons and daughters residing within and outside the state, identified Mr. Udom Emmanuel the virtue and capability of great leader who will be able to pilot affairs of the state, hence their decision to pitch tent with him in 2014.
