Akwa Ibom State governor, Godswill Akpabio has predicted that 2014 is a year of fulfilment as the state will experience massive commissioning of major projects.
Akpabio, who made the remark yesterday during a mass ushering in the New Year at St. John’s Chaplaincy, Government House, Uyo, thanked God for seeing the state through 2013.
He, however, called on clergymen in the state to intercede for the state through prayers as the 2015 governorship election approaches.
The governor remarked that “2013 was a year full of lies and blackmails to tarnish the image of this administration. And I know more lies would be told in this 2014 as the 2015 governorship election approaches.”
“So, we need more prayers and there is the need for all clergymen in the state to remain sane and to guide us with their prayers towards the forthcoming governorship election”.
On the recent near crash of Aero Contractors’ flight in Lagos, Governor Akpabio thanked God for averting the crash and prayed that the nation would never experience any disaster in the New Year.
In his homily, Most Rev Anselem Umoren said the mass was to thank God for His bountiful blessings to the state in 2013, and called on the people of the state to realise that the strength of the state is from God who has seen them through into 2014.
Umoren expressed hope that with God on the side of the state, everything would go well, and called on the people to have great faith in God and listen to His voice for direction and blessings to state.
