The Katsina State government yesterday, handed over 41 illegal immigrants who were repatriated from Saudi Arabia to their families.
The executive secretary, State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Alhaji Hassan Suleiman made the disclosure at a news conference in Katsina.
Suleiman said the 41 deportees were among the more than 500 Nigerians who indicated interest to return home.
He added that the next batch of the state’s indigenes from Saudi Arabia was being expected by weekend.
The secretary said the deportees were handed over to the authorities of their local governments of origin “and all of them are in good health.
“The local authorities will then hand them over to their families.’’
According to him, the deportees are from Baure, Batsari, Daura, Jibia, Katsina, Kankia, Mashi, Mai’adua, Rimi and Zango.
He appealed to Nigerians to desist from travelling without valid documents to avoid being humiliated.
Some of the deportees commended the federal and state governments for their concern and support on the issue.
