Sale of pubic and Albino hair has become big business in Delta State, even as used pants, finger nails are also used in the preparation of a charm called ‘love soap’.
LEADERSHIP WEEKEND gathered that the police have arrested six native doctors in connection to the bizarre business.
Our investigation revealed that, though the trade is yet to be known to the unsuspecting members of the public, sources said special markets and stores simply described as ‘Afia’ are haven for the illicit business. Native doctors go there to purchase these items to prepare ‘love potions’ and charms for employment.
It is said that pubic hairs as well as hair from albinos are reportedly effective for the love charm which has become an appeal for desperate job seekers and harlots travelling abroad for prostitution.
Further investigations revealed that since the advent of the illicit business in Asaba Markets, native doctors from far Eastern parts have allegedly settled in Asaba town, a place called Abraka near the River-Niger where desperate patrons visit them for prepared charms.
However, police sources said the arrest of the native doctors was made possible by a tip-off, which led the detectives into their hide outs and series of charms were discovered, adding that the suspects are helping the police for further investigation.
Our sources further revealed that used pants and finger nails are reportedly supplied by the female patrons, adding that prepared charms and soaps cost between N30, 000 and N40, 000, sealed with instructions on how to use them which must be followed to the letter.
