The Flag Officer Commanding the Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogbor, has assured investors of adequate security in the Niger Delta region.
Ogbor made the remark at the end of a 72-hour 2nd biennial sea patrol, code-named: “Operation Waegbe” on Sunday in Warri, Delta State.
He said that already the navy had reduced illegal oil bunkering, militancy and other sea crimes in the region and would not relent in making the area safe for human habitation and business.
The flag officer assured that the waterways were now safe for business and appealed to the investors that had earlier left the area due to insecurity to return, as their investment would be protected.
He said that the navy would take the delivery of more patrol ships soon and that this would ensure the navy’s combat readiness in securing the nation’s territorial waters.
The flag officer, however, explained that Operation Waegbe was a sea patrol exercise to test the combat readiness of his men in case of challenges.
