The Lemu-led presidential panel saddled with the responsibility of identifying the remote causes of the post-election violence that rocked the northern part of the country recently and make recommendations, has lamented the level of destruction that was carried out during the crisis in Kaduna State.
This came after the panel visited most of the areas affected during the violence. Areas visited so far include Giwa, Makarfi, Zaria and Ikara local government areas of Kaduna State. The emir of Zazzau, Dr Shehu Idris, was also among personalities visited in the state.
Other areas expected to be visited include Zonkwa, Kagoro and Kafanchan in the southern part of Kaduna State.
LEADERSHIP findings reveal that the panel, which divided themselves into seven groups, has Barrister Mustapha Wali leading the Kaduna team and will be rounding off its visits to areas affected in Kaduna State on the 22nd of June, 2011.
The panel while lamenting the extent of damage done, has assured that appropriate recommendations would be given to the president to prevent a reoccurrence of future crises in not only Kaduna State, but also the country on the whole.
The emir of Zaria, Dr Shehu Idris, when he was visited tasked the panel to be fair and just in the discharge of their duties, even as he wished them well in their assignment.
The general public has been called upon and encouraged to give support and maximum corporation to the panel, while the submission of memoranda was also called for.
