Tennis: Nigeria In Bright Start At World Junior Qualifiers

Nigeria has started in bright note in the ongoing world junior team qualifier taking place in Cairo, Egypt.  The Nigerian starlets defeated Ghana 3-0 in their first game of the tournament that will see Nigeria qualify to represent Africa in August in Czech Replubic if they scale through.

Emmanuel ldoko who won an ITF scholarship to tour top European countries of France, Germany, Holland and Belgium in an all expenses paid trip due to his sterling performance at the African version in Botswana beat Abraham Asaba 6/4, 6/2 while Joseph Imeh beat Ismeal Nortey 6/3, 6/2. In the doubles, the pairing of Emmanuel
ldoko and Joseph Imeh beat Ghanaian’s Abraham Asaba and Ismeal Nortey 6/3, 6/4.

Today Nigeria will play Morocco in the tournament that has six African nations slugging it out for the top spot to represent Africa in the world junior team championship. South Africa, Egypt, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Ghana and Morocco are the countries eyeing a slot at the world junior event coming up in August.
