Honourable Aminu Shagari who is a member of the House Committee on diaspora and a former envoy of the United States to Nigeria, Ambassador Howard Jetter.
The topic of discussion during this year’s convention will be on the Proposed Nigerian Diaspora Commission, according to a press statement made available to our Correspondent by a Principal Director of the Organisation, Mr. Franklin Ekechukwu.
The statement further said that while Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United States, Prof. Ade Adefuye will be the Keynote Speaker at the occasion, the trio of Ambassador Howard Jetter, Hon Abike Dabiri and Aminu Shagari will be Guest Speakers.
Dwelling on the importance of the Organisation, Ekechukwu noted that NIDO would continue in its efforts to provide a sophisticated information tool to enable linkages between Nigerian skills and expertise abroad and Nigeria’s government,
industry, and academic sectors at home to meet their workforce, training, and economic development needs.
He also noted that NIDO had launched a database initiative to create a technology platform and information service to enable the organization to be a stronger partner in Nigeria’s economic development.
“The core vision of NIDO America is deeply rooted in the organization’s firm belief that diaspora Nigerians can make significant contributions to Nigeria, develop effective modes through programmes,
policies, and advocacy for Nigerians abroad to harness their talents, expertise, and resources for Nigeria’s development and nation building.”
Ekechukwu also said that NIDO’s mission was to promote the spirit of patriotism, networking and cooperation among Nigerians in the diaspora, thus mobilising the vast resources of manpower and machinery toward building a greater Nigeria.
He said, “NIDO Americas believes that this overriding framework and philosophy resonates with every Nigerian man, woman, and organization abroad and sets the foundation for a profound opportunity to unite, collaborate, and effect needed change in our Homeland and beyond.”
