The World Bank-funded community and social development project (CSDP) has doled out N30million to 13 communities in Katsina State for the provision of infrastructure.
General Manager of Katsina State Agency for Community and Social Development Projects (CSDP), Alhaji Salisu Yar’adua, said the communities were drawn from six local government areas of the state and notd that “the infrastructural upgrade is in various sectors of health, education, water supply and electrification.”
Speaking on the occasion of presentation of cheques to the benefitting communities, Yar’adua said the agency intervenes in benefitting communities’ areas of priority adding that “work on water supply, road construction, electrification and building has reached different stages of completion in most of the benefitting communities.”
Yar’adua who listed the communities to include Shadanbu, Yana, Ungwan Yara, sharawa, Kahutu, Baurawa and salimawa, tasked them to ensure transparency.
According to him, “Each community must keep a profile box detailing information about the projects being executed and all expenses incurred must be explicitly stated so as to ensure accountability and transparency.”
Our correspondent reports that Yana Community received N1.4million being 50 percent of the funds needed to construct boreholes while Yara Community got N520,000 for the construction of culverts.
