The Kugbo Auto Spare Parts Dealers’ Association in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has elected Mr. Cajethan Udekwe and his running mate, Mr. Ezema Maduka, as chairman and vice chairman respectively. The duo got 87 votes to defeat Hon. Peter Nwigwe and his running mate, Mr. Uchenna Okoro, who scored 84 votes.
The post of secretary went to Mr. Obiora Linus with Samuel .C Okorie as assistant secretary. Other results showed that Moses Chukwu was elected treasurer; Hyginus Nnaji Ofor, financial secretary; Friday Nicholas Ede, PRO; Patrick Chimezie, chief provost; Anayo Ojobor, assistant provost, while Mr. Okechukwu Nwanko and Emmanuel Igede were returned unopposed as welfare officer 1 & 11 respectively.
In his acceptance speech, the chairman, Udekwe, expressed gratitude to members for giving him the mandate and promised not to let them down. He commended officers and men of the Nigeria Police and the State Security Service (SSS) for the peaceful conduct of the election.
“I want to use this opportunity to tell you people that this victory is for all of us; nobody is a loser. I think with this victory, you will now see a new Udekwe as the new chairman of Kugbo Motor Spare Parts Dealers’ Association,” he said.
The secretary of Abuja Motor Spare Parts Dealers’ Association, Mr. Justine Ifediora, who was the returning officer, described the election as transparent. He said the narrow margin with which the leaders defeated their opponents was a clear indication of the quality of the candidates.
Chief Amaechi Anazoba Ugwumba, general chairman, Abuja Motor Spare Parts Dealers’ Association, on his part said that the peaceful election of new executive members of the association was commendable and enjoined the losers to close ranks with the winners to move the association forward.
