I have decided not to include any feedback that seems to be more focused on praise to me than the issues raised; please bear with me if you have not seen your words on this page, they may have been left out for that reason or because there wasn’t enough space for more than we have here. In any case, I appreciate all comments and I must state here that it is the feedbacks that imbue me further with a sense of responsibility and the guts to keep writing. Thank you, all.
I have taken the liberty to correct errata in grammar and spelling. The purport and intent, I have left as is. My mind struggled with the idea of leaving the first response below and removing it. I resolved to leave it as it contained words for Mai Martaba himself; but I have appended a little addendum, I hope my brother, Abdulmu’min, does not mind very much.
Great piece except for the apologies to the VP... In fact we should stop exaggerating their intellect by calling them Your Excellency. Excellence is Allah’s quality, not theirs.
And I’m happy that the Sultan creates time for reading. Somehow you are introducing tender feelings in my heart for him.
So where now is the PDP super Acting National Chairman? Has he reached you, tail between his legs? He should apologise.
And even if there are no apologies just know that those who speak the truth are not diplomats, the truth is always spoken in its pure form- and it is hurtful to those whose nature it hits. For our generation of Nigeria’s Muslim youth you are a good representative. We are proud of you and pray that Allah (SWT) continue to elevate you.
I would have loved to hate the Acting National Chairman of the PDP. But Allah forbids that. I am still fighting the bile. Please pray for me to be able to pray for him when I see him, instead of spitting at him. Abdulmumin Balogun umarsimpa@yahoo.com.
My brother has spoken his entire mind, although it is not always the best course to follow even when we are right. Perhaps Allah wishes to use an incidence to improve us all and waken us to our individual and collective responsibilities. I am sure I was as incensed as you are, but when the words of our elders waft through the ears, they soften the mien and soothe the nerves. Patience, my brother, patience! - Abubakr Siddeeq
ASSALAMUN ALAIKUM WARAHMATULLAH
My Ustaz,
In fact, I don’t know how to express my feelings to you sir but let me start by saying ALHAMDU LILLAH! ALHAMDU LILLAH!! ALHAMDU LILLAH!!! You are welcome back sir; I’m so happy when I read from the LEADERSHIP that Allah has called you back to your post that no one has the right to take from you except the only giver HIMSELF.
FROM SAM ASOWATA TO MY BROTHER, USTAZ SIDDEEQ MUHAMMAD, CONGRATULATIONS!!! SO, YOU HAD AUDIENCE WITH HIS EMINENCE THE SULTAN!!! AND, NOW, NOW, YOU ARE RETURNING TO YOUR DUTY POST AT THE NATIONAL MOSQUE!!! SWEET VICTORY! BUT DID I NOT PREDICT IT? WHAT ELSE DO YOU WANT THE ALMIGHTY TO DO FOR YOU? KINDLY ENLIST CHRISTIANS WHO LOVE YOU AS MEMBERS OF THE UMMAH. THANK YOU.---SAM ASOWATA. +2347031661713,
Assalamu Alaikum, Sheikh Siddeeq,
I read your articles and the consequences. It’s unfortunate that we have made a society where truth is veiled in broad day light. But whatever happens in Nigeria, people like you who speak for the truth and caution the Ummah on the wrongs infiltrating the society will remain strong and determined.
Please do not be cowed by the powers that be to stop doing what is good for the Ummah. Verily in our lives, there are serious temptations and the Holy Qur’an tells us so clearly.
Your translation at the national mosque carries a passion that pricks believers. It is a duty you render for the sake of Allah and the Ummah at large and not for certain disgruntled elements of the society. Do continue with Allah’s Party and not the worldly, worthless parties.
Remain strong in faith and continue doing good until Yaqeen comes.
Wassalamu alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu.
Your Brother in-Islam (Muhammad Ajah mobahawwah@yahoo.co.uk)
What the leadership of the National Mosque did was a clear example of DANCING TO THE TUNES OF THE POWERS THAT BE. Keep struggling for the cause of Islam, don’t be deterred. Moukhtar Umar Kofa +2348067554720,
Mallam Moukhtar Umar, I see we are products of the same hearth, Kofa, Kano, state, although my forebears were originally from Potiskum in Yobe State. Thank you for your kind words, I already feel an affinity to you by default.
Assalamu alaikum,
May Allah continue to guide and protect us all amen. May He also continue to give you the courage to say the truth irrespective of who is involved. And lastly, may Allah purify our intention and accept our good deeds, ameen.
Regards to your family, Yusuf Ahmadu - yusufahmadu70@yahoo.com,
Salamu’alaikum wRH wBH ya-Ustaz,
May this mail reach you in the Best state of Being and Eiman.
AlhamdulilLah, the Sultan has played the Role expected of him.....indeed, if we were in an Ideal Islamic-community, the issue wouldn’t have lived a day long before the ‘ammirul-Mu’minin’ resolves it promptly!
Nonetheless, we commend his counsel (and courage to wade into what has been improperly-politicised). And I guess as Muslims, we should pray to ALLAH (SWT) To Guide the “provocateur”! Jamal Elbaff - jelbaff@yahoo.com,
Your success over the encounter with the PDP Act National Chairman testified to the fact that you remained steadfast & consistent in what you did for the last 17yrs in the National Mosque. The fact that you’re to resume the job is another test on whether you’ll soft-pedal or you’ll improve upon your job. Remember however that Allah SWT is always on the side of those who’re truthful, steadfast, honest, patient and faithful to Him. I wish you very successful yet another test in your life. Bissalam. COMMENTS FROM MY (www.abubakrsiddeeq.blogspot.com) BLOG ON THE SAME TOPIC
Salam, you have spoken nicely and as decreed by ALLAH SWT but if we are to follow the dictates of the mind you should not have apologized to anybody. ALLAH alone is the giver and taker of everything but because His Eminence the Sultan has intervened are we to say anything? May ALLAH increase us in IMAN - GIBBY-DEDE
Barakallahu feek, Your Eminence! May you continue to enjoy good health, wealth of wisdom and long life. We are happy that someone can recognise the truth and stand by it. - Abduls
There is a bit of grandstanding both in response and comments during and after the incident. We learn from each other’s experiences and I found the comment of the Imam quite matured and balanced.
I expected the security to be as tight as it was which was sequel to the wanton destruction of lives and the impasse that greeted the announcement of the winner of the last election. More so the violent reaction was from the North where the National Mosque is situated. The tight security was expected
Haliru was right by his comment but I feel it was disproportionate by him going further to say that he would deal with Ustaz Siddeeq, which I believe infuriated him giving rise to the chain of uncontrolled, “not too healthy” comments/events that followed. I must admit that Ustaz spoke the truth on the issue but a little more tact would have helped.
On the whole, I must say that I note, with interest, Ustaz’s boldness to address the truth, the Imam’s tactful comment and Sultan’s balanced judgement. Allaah knows best - Abdullah Binuyo
Alhamdu-liLah to know that Ustaz is going back to the sadaqah he has been offering for over 17 years which some greedy politicians wanted to deprive him of, thinking he is like them.
I totally support Ustaz’s tone and response right from the start of this unfortunate incidence up to the time it was resolved.
I will in my own little capacity continue to maintain that the heavy security presence at the national mosque was un-called for if at all our leaders are just and sincere in their deals.
We pray that Allah SWT continue to guard you and protect you. May Allah SWT continue to give you more boldness to challenge what is wrong and enjoin what is right (amin). - A. A. Yusuf
It’s certainly a great virtue to utter the word ‘sorry’ or any other word of apology especially when in the absolute sense of the matter, you are not in the wrong. More precisely, you have spoken the truth and at the same time, subtle and respectful in addressing the people of authority (in this write-up) while being steadfast on the truth. After all, Allah instructed Moosaa and Haaroon (AS) to address Fir `awn softly while at the same time speaking nothing but the truth. On the whole, I agree with your utterances in the heat of the matter as much as I admire your wordings and style in this very piece. May Allah continue to guide and guard you (aameen). - Abou Taw’amayn
RE: PDP AND THE NATIONAL MOSQUE
The following is response to the feedback I posted on the above topic.
Indeed Christendom does not have Osama bin Laden, but it has the atomic bomb droppers, the Red Brigades, the ETA, the IRA, and the Action Direct and God knows what else. +2348035977043.
