Physical Education to many, means not more than the theories of going about sporting activities. Their argument is that most of our sprinters never attended any tertiary visitation before breaking new records even at international level. The fact of the case is that sprinters must have possessed the potential that could be developed into skills while we must not lose the sight of the fact that coaches do technically teach the theories which he would monitor well as it translates into practice. Education still remains an essential factor most especially when one aspires to compete at International level.
In whatever we stand to do, education for right orientation is an essential tool. This is one of the key factors behind our failure to address the issues of democracy to fetch us the expected results. Whenever news spread through the media report that:
Leaders amass wealth at the expense of the development of the masses by not providing.
(i) basic amenities like good road networks.
(ii) pipe-borne water to backup acclaimed eradication of guinea worm by so so year.
(iii) rural electrification to prevent village dissertation and mass movement to urban areas and over population.
(iv) for or encouraging of agricultural revolution to provide food for all to eradicate poverty.
— Corruption at high places in which leaders are found to have diverted money meant for development projects to their private accounts here and overseas.
— Politicians clash over booty sharing and vandalise materials at costly expense.
— Big shots shot to death by unknown killers who are yet to be found by the Police.
— Son kills his father over N5 change.
— Violence erupted during workers’ strike over non-payment of salaries.
Within the limit of the above scenario, the situation could be assessed as heated up system of democracy where the substances of democracy are not in equilibrium with unbalanced equation. A three legged table cannot stand properly without it fourth leg found and properly fixed in position, otherwise it would tumbled off the food placed on it into wastage.
That Nigerians still suffer so much under the umbrella of democracy still amuses the sage without giving them any catalogue of surprises. This is because they realise the following facts.
— Politics in Nigeria is an all comer game where the desires to loot over-rides the quest to serve.
— Important positions are reserved for the money bags and such sensitive post would only go to the highest bidder.
— Our politicians neither attended any school of political science and neither do they humble themselves to be given right orientation by any Department of Political Science from any of our universities.
Political dynamism requires some knowledge of physical education to be physically and mentally fit for the job of right governance. Unfortunately, this is totally lacking as could be read through mere assessment of their physical appearances. Without right education, there is no way by which you can understand democratic rules of law. Without respecting the constituents of democracy equation, there is no way you can practise it to its meaningful objectives. Under this poor condition of lacking, the expected peace would elude the system while violence and outright outery are put in place instead.
Can we please therefore, implore all potential and dynamic politicians to avail themselves the opportunities to learn the science of democracy for better practice so that we ensure political dynamic equilibrium between the governed and the ruling class. Presently, the masses are tired of the game of rhetorics and political propaganda. Democracy simply means Justice + Equity = Peace.
On justice, Prophet Dawood was admonished (And it was said unto him): O David! Lo! we have set thee as a viceroy in the earth, therefore, judge aright between mankind, and follow not desire that its beguiles thee from the way of Allah. Lo! Those who wander from the way of Allah have an awful doom, for as much as they forgot the Day of Reckoning” K.38 vs 26.
“Let us reflect on the above for our democracy to be pragmatic.
— That all rulers at any cadre of official or informal capacity must be sincerely religious for worthwhile divine directive and guidance.
— That all leaders must uphold truth, justice and governance without bias.
— That material distribution among fellow human beings shall be object of practical test over leaders sincerity of purpose and respect for justice dispensation.
— That leaders must avoid keeping hidden agenda to the detriment of his oath of allegiance to which he had sworn to uphold in governance, otherwise such people would go into perdition.
— That we must believe in the day of reckoning to uphold fear of God.
Perfidious rulers would certainly face the wrath of God. The message of democracy is clear enough for people’s hope to be raised. For us to be misguided in Nigeria . Let us uphold in principle the philosophy of the message below.
“O ye who believe it: Be steadfast witnessed for Allah in equity, and let not hatred of any people reduce you that he deal not justly. Deal justly, that is, nearer to your duty. Observe your duty to Allah. Lo! Allah is informed of what ye do.” K 5 vs 8. Be warned.
