The evening of Sunday the 12th of February 2012 was one of fun, laughter and the impartation of the truth of God’s Word on the issue of love, sex and money, as The Lighthouse Church Abuja held a show tagged Me &My Girl, to mark Valentine’s this year.
The essence of the show was to take a look at the relationship between love, sex and money as it is mostly perceived in today’s world, especially amongst the youth, and to bring some balance by delving into what God, the Author of these things, has to say on the matter.
The Ladi Kwali Hall of the Sheraton Hotel, Abuja was packed full with people who largely, in compliance with the dress code, turned out sporting ‘a touch of red’.
Award-winning Gospel artiste K’Ore, Gospel rap artiste El Priest and Anita Odeh provided quality, spirit-lifting music while Act One, the drama unit of the Lighthouse, put on a very entertaining but thought-provoking drama sketch.
Comedian MC Freke had the audience in stitches all evening. His unique way of putting forth the Word of God through rib-cracking humour was as always, refreshing.
High point of the event was an interactive talk show anchored by the senior pastor of The Lighthouse, Rev. Shola Adesoye, where a panel of discussants and the audience aired their opinions and asked questions. The discussion was a very down-to-earth and open one on love as opposed to lust, sex and money in relationships and was rounded off by Rev. Adesoye, who balanced things out from the Bible.
The show ended with the inauguration of Da Tribe, the youth wing of The Lighthouse and a raffle draw, which saw three joyful winners going home with a brand new BlackBerry, dinner for two at the prestigious Banana Republic restaurant in Abuja and a Valentine’s gift bag.
The event most certainly served to make the season of love this year a most memorable one, as attendants left thoroughly entertained and also empowered to do the right thing where love and relationships are concerned.
