FG, Cotton Coy Sign MoU On Cotton Production

The federal government yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the West African Cotton Company (WACOT) to revive cotton production in the country.

By the agreement,WACOT had proposed a four-year seed multiplication plan covering 7 States of  Katsina, Jigawa, Kano, Zamfara, Gombe, Adamawa and Borno.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina,who did not  disclose in monetary terms the amount involved in the agreement, said the  plan was to develop 15.625 hectares in the current season and expand the hectare to 25,000 ha by 2015.
