A trailer has crushed three persons to death along the Papalanto-Ilaro Road in Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The auto crash occurred at Oteyi Village when the driver of the trailer fully loaded with cement lost control and rammed into an oncoming Mazda car marked OG 07 LAR.
In the process, the trailer killed the three occupants of the car, including a baby on the spot.
Sources also informed LEADERSHIP that the driver of the trailer marked Jigawa XB 14 XG was going to a yet to be confirmed destination with the cement consignment when the incident happened.
It was gathered that after the incident, the driver of the trailer took to his heels to escape mob attack. The development allegedly infuriated passersby and sympathizers, comprising youths , who attempted to set the trailer ablaze.
But the timely arrival of security operatives at the accident scene prevented the youths from carrying out their plans.
The accident affected vehicular movement as motorists plying the road had to stop and park on the highway to catch a glimpse of the lifeless bodies of the accident victims just as tears flowed freely down their faces.
The remains of the accident victims whose identities were yet to be identified as at press time yesterday, had been deposited at the Mortuary of the General Hospital, Ilaro.
