Minister of sports and chairman National Sports Commission (NSC), Mallam Abdullahi Bolaji has unveiled the building plan for the corporate headquarters for the Nigeria Football Association (NFA). The building which will be constructed for a whopping sum of three hundred and thirty six million, three hundred and twenty one thousand, one hundred and eleven naira only (N336, 321, 111.00), is a three storey building and will be sited at the Package B of the Abuja National Stadium, Abuja.
Unveiling the plan yesterday, the minister said the building which will be executed by Paul-B Construction firm is to be completed within 52 weeks. “Start counting from today, Paul-B construction firm has 52 weeks to complete the project. So, in the next 52 weeks, Paul-B will deliver the project and it will be commissioned,” he said.
He commended the Presidential Task Force (PTF) for being the brain behind the project. He tasked the contractor to deliver a quality project stressing that Nigerian football stakeholders will not accept anything less. “I commend the PTF, particularly their chairman and Rivers State Governor, Hon. Rotimi Ameachi for this initiative. Nigerians are passionate about football and because of that they are interested in anything that has to do with football. The Paul-B must ensure that quality work is done on the project. You will be clearly monitored by everybody including the sporting press,” he said.
Earlier, the director general of National Sports Commission (NSC) Dr Patrick Ekeji explained that the PTF during its submission report to President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan on June 29, requested for approval to use the balance of the funds in the PTF account to build a befitting headquarter for the Nigeria Football Federation. He said President Jonathan also in his wisdom extended the lifespan of the Task Force to enable it supervise the project to completion. The DG said the building plan was done by Arc Gambo Ahmadu of the facilities and Stadium department in the NSC.
