Athletics Meet: Sagamu Comes Alive

Over 500 athletes are to participate in the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) 2012 All Comers/ Walk Race which kicks off today at the Gateway Stadium in Sagamu.
Already, over 30 states and clubs are in Sagamu.

Scribe of AFN, Maria Wophil has confirmed that Benue State, Ondo, Lagos, Anambra, Kano, Kwara and the Civil Defence Corps track teams were amongst the early arrivals in Sagamu.

“We are kicking off the All Comers Race/ Walk Monday with the Walk Race. It is scheduled to start at 7am,”observed the former national handball star.

She listed distance events to be competed to include; Triple jump, Long Jump, High Jump, Shot put, Javelin, Discuss, Hammer,150m for 100m, 200m h, 300m,
600m for 400m & 400m H, Shot put, Javelin, 4 X 200m, Sprint Medley Relay

(200m,200m,400,800), 3,000m for 1,500m,   5,000m for 1,500m, 1 Mile for 800m, Pentathlon, Heptathlon and 25km walk.

She, however, restated the resolve of the federation not to allow states/ clubs owing the mandatory N30,000 affiliation fees from participating.
