Fees Hike: IMT Students Barricade Entrance To Enugu Govt House

Students of the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) on Monday barricaded the entrance to the Enugu State Government House over a 100 percent hike in their school fees.

They were however, prevented from gaining entrance into the government house by stern looking policemen who were quickly deployed to the scene of the protest.

The angry students who carried placards with different inscriptions  , obstructed free flow of traffic for several hours.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the authorities of the institution increased the school fees from N25, 300 to over N59, 000.

Addressing the students, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Sullivan Chime, Chukwudi Achife said government was concerned about the their plights.

Achife, however, told the students that the governor, whom he said, traveled, had before the protest  , disclosed that the school fees could be reduced when funds for implementation of this year’s budget are realized.
