The transition Council Chairman of Esan West Local Government Area, Ambassador (Mrs) Stella Okoro, has expressed worry over the dwindling returns from Internally Generated Revenue, (IGR) to the Council and blamed the decline on the activities of fake revenue officers, (touts).

The council boss specifically accused a local government coordinator of War Against Indiscipline (WAI) of using his office to extort money from traders under the guise of collecting revenue for the Council.

While commending the initiatives of the State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, in setting up the body in the State, she however decried the situation in which members of the out-fit extort money from people to the detriment of the finances of the council.

Okoro, who spoke to Journalists at the Council’s administrative headquarters, however appealed to revenue authority in the State to urgently wade into the matter.

She said, “the WAI coordinator is not a council staff and he is not our revenue collector neither did we engage him as an agent. His activity is depriving the council of needed revenue.
