A sixteen-year-old girl, Nana Yazulatu Mustapha, of Daura Local Government Area of Katsina State, and her boy friend, Altine Sani, have been arraigned before senior magistrate court sitting in Katsina for abatement and culpable homicide.
Police prosecutor, Sergent Okolo Usman, told the court that the accused lady gave birth to a baby girl out of wedlock but intentionally and repeatedly knocked the baby on the ground till the baby died.
Sergeant Okolo stated that the girl admiited that she committed the crime on December 15, 2011, with the support of her boy friend, Sani.
The prosecutor, who informed the court that investigations on the matter had not been concluded, said the offence was contrary to section 91 and 221 of the penal code law.
Magistrate Nurudden Abdulmumini Jikamshi who presided over the matter, directed that the accused persons be remanded in prison custody till March 26, 2012.
