Suspected gunmen have attacked a shop near Filin Hockey Police Station, along Zoo road in Kano metropolis, killing the shop owner and injuring many others.
An Eye witness said in Kano that the incident occurred at about 8:00 pm on Tuesday, while the businessman was attending to customers in the shop located less than 200 meters from the police station.
The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Magaji Majiya, confirmed the incident in a telephone interview with a correspondent.
He said the gunmen went to the shop on motorcycles, shot the man dead before fleeing.
“The unknown gunmen came on motorcycles and shot a man to death in front of a shop by Zoological Garden and the suspects quickly fled.
“Police was later informed by concerned citizens, the scene was visited and the corpse removed.”
He said the corpse had since been deposited at the mortuary and that investigations had also commenced.
