Gov. Kayode Fayemi of  Ekiti State on Wednesday said his government had increased  Internally Generated Revenue in the state to  N617 million  monthly through tapping the potentials of  the  Information and Communication Technology sector.

The governor said this in Ado Ekiti  at  the formal launch of the state’s  new official web site, www.ekitistate.gov.ng.

He said the state had been making a paltry N109 million, adding that his government would also install fibrotic wireless cable in Ado Ekiti to facilitate residents’ access to internet connectivity at cheap rate.

The governor said the state could not underestimate the importance of internet connectivity since its adoption in revenue collection had yielded unquantifiable dividends through blockage of revenue leakages.

Fayemi said his government was stepping up efforts to ensure that the Ekiti State University was made internet-enabled to help students have access to books and international journals.

“I have never said my government has all the answers to Ekiti problems.

“With this website, our people will be able to participate in governance by making useful suggestions or to criticise our actions for better performance.

“This is not just a fun-making website, but one that will make our government more responsive and efficient in service delivery through our interactions with the people,’’ he added.
