One soldier was killed when gunmen, suspected to be Boko Haram members, attacked an army officer’s residence at Hotoro area of Kano metropolis on Friday.
The Spokesperson for the Joint Security Task-Force (JTF), Lt. Ikedichi Iweha, confirmed the killing in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano on Friday.
He said the incident happened at about 5:30 p.m. when the suspected gunmen, on a motorcycle, went to the officer’s residence where two soldiers were on guard and opened fire on them.
He said one of the soldiers, who sustained injuries as a result of the gun shot, died at the hospital while the other one was not injured.
``The gunmen were on a motorcycle when they attacked the area and we lost one of the soldiers.”
He said investigation had since commenced while effort was also being intensified to track down the killers. (NAN)
