Arson: JTF Kills 3 Boko Haram Suspects, Arrests 2

The Joint Task Force (JTF) on Operation Restore Order (ORO) said on Monday arrested two suspected Boko Haram militants attempting to burn down Lamisla Primary School, Maiduguri.

The JTF spokesman, Lt -Col. Hassan Ifijeh, told newsmen in Maiduguri  that three others were killed in the process.

“The JTF carried out successful operation in the early morning of Monday precisely at 3.30a.m. Our operatives in secret ambush at Lamisula Primary school, Maiduguri, saved the school from being damaged.

“The team spotted a group of armed youths which drove into the premises with gallons of petrol attempting to set the school ablaze,'' Ifijeh said.

He said that the JTF opened fire on the invading team.

“Three of them were killed, while two others sustained minor injuries.

“The two were immediately arrested and are currently with the JTF for questioning,'' Ifijeh said.

He said that the JTF had evacuated the corpses of those  killed and placed them at the mortuaryof the University Teaching Hospital, Maiduguri.

Ifijeh added that rifles and other weapons were also recovered at the scene.

About eight schools have been torched since the burning of schools started last month in Maiduguri.(NAN)
