Verification: Defiant Military Retirees To Forfeit Pensions

The Nigerian Legion, Enugu State Council has said that any military retiree that failed to participate in the ongoing verification and documentation exercise directed by the Minister of Defence in conjunction with Military Pension Board would be regarded as a ghost pensioner.

Speaking with newsmen weekend at the premises of 82 Division of the Nigerian Army Enugu, venue of the exercise  yesterday,  chairman of the legion in the state, Engr. George Amalu warned that after the verification exercise, the pensions of those who failed to turn up would be stopped.

He disclosed that so far,  over 500 pensioners from Enugu and other neighboring states had participated in the exercise.

According to him, the decision to allow military pensioners from outside Enugu State to participate in the state  was informed by the non discriminatory policy of the army.
