Former Justice Minister Appointed Prime Minister Of Cote d'Ivoire

President Alassane Ouattara on Tuesday in Abidjan appointed former Ivorian Justice Minister, Jeanot Ahoussou, as the new Prime Minister of Cote d’Ivoire.

The former Prime Minister, Guillaume Soro, resigned his position on Friday and was elected the Speaker of the National Assembly and the Vice President of the country on Monday.

Secretary General of the Government, Ahmadou Coulibaly, said: ``I wish to announce that President Alassane Ouattara today appointed Jeanot Ahoussou as the new prime minister of Cote d’Ivoire.’’

Speaking to newsmen after the announcement Ahoussou thanked the president for the appointment.and assured Ivorians of his commitment to work towards the progress of the country.

In a reaction, former Ivorian President, Laurent Gbagbo’s lawyer, Alain Toussaint,  said Ahoussou was among lawyers who championed a new identity for Ivorians in the 1990’s.

``In politics, you never say never, so best of luck to Ahoussou.’’
