Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko has approved the implementation of the new minimum wage for civil servants in the State. The minimum wage takes effect from the 1st of this month.
In a release signed by the Head of Service, Alhaji Abdullahi Wali, yesterday, he said that the ministry of finance has been directed to ensure speedy implementation of the exercise.
He also said that similar gesture would be extended to the 23 local government councils in the State as soon as the workforce verification exercise was concluded.
It would be recalled that more than 639 ghost workers were discovered during the verification exercise conducted in the 67 ministries and departments in the State.
