The Joint Task Force (JTF), Police and State Security Service (SSS) in Imo State last weekend waged a serious war against kidnappers in the state , killing one in the process.
In a joint press briefing by the JTF in Owerri yesterday, presided over by Brigadier General Modebo Alkai, Commanding Officer, 34 artillery brigade Obinze, Christopher Dega, State Commissioner of Police and Sobricom Kalama, State Director, State Security Service (SSS), it also disclosed that over 20 arrests were made in various crime bursting in the state in the past two weeks .
Brigadier Alkai further said that one of the suspects was felled by the bullets of the task force who engaged them in a gun duel during a chase after one of their criminal activity.
According to Mr. Celestine Okoye who represented the State Commissioner of Police, more suspects have been arrested in different kidnap cases in the state while efforts are being intensified to track down those on the run.
Earlier, Army Commander, Alkai had promised the people of the state maximum security and also promised to deal with any criminal no matter how highly placed.
