3jays international has boosted the forthcoming West Africa University Games (WAUG) to be hosted by the University of Ilorin with trophies and kits worth over N2m. The university last Wednesday got the pleasant surprise ahead of the Games when the company donated the of materials for home and away for Uni Ilorin’s male and female basketball teams. 3jays international limited, the donor also installed the synthetic basketball court at the school’s gymnasium.
Managing Director of the 3js international, Col. Sam Ahmedu while presenting the 38 trophies comprising a giant winners trophy, runners-up trophies, fair play trophy, Most Valuable Player award, best rebounder, highest 3 pointer, best assist, highest steals, top five players for men and women as well as 9 commemorative trophies said he was inspired to assist the university in the game of basketball because it is his area of choice and passion being a former international for Nigeria and also having played in three editions of WAUG as a student while in school. “As an ardent sportsman, my company was motivated by the need to support a Nigerian university hosting the rest of West Africa on behalf of Nigeria. From our experiences in the past, we know that it is not easy to host and any little token that anybody can bring will go a long way. So, we chose one sport – basketball which is what we know well and decided to assist. Having been to WAUG Games myself, I felt it was necessary to give back as a way of assisting the university. The university chose us to install the synthetic floor and as a company we deal directly with the manufacturers and do things to specification with the branding done to your taste making it cheaper for our clients.”
An elated Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) of the university, Prof. Kolade Ayorinde who represented the Vice Chancellor of the Institution Prof. Ishaaq Olanrewaju Oloyede said the institution was glad to be associated with 3jays international.
