Leaders of the Action Congress of Nigeria (AC N) and a group, Bayelsa Action Committee for Justice ( BACJ), yesterday, intensified call for an independent probe into the finances of the State over claims by Governor Seriake Dickson that he inherited an empty treasure and a huge debt profile.
ACN through its National Youth leader, Comrade Miriki Ebikibina said that the call for probe had become necessary to ascertain the true and actual debt profile of the State and the alleged waste of State Resources in the last administration.
According to him, the disclosure by Dickson has not only vindicated the demand by AC N for an audited account of the State but confirmed the party’s position on the poor and reckless handling of the State finances by the ruling People’s Democratic Party ( PDP).
BACJ, through its President, Comrade Jonathan Timi, said that though the incumbent Governor did not come clear on who handed him an empty treasury and huge debt between the Sylva and Acting Governor, Nestor Binabo, the issue of empty treasury and huge debt inherited by Dickson was unacceptable and needed to be investigated.
